Might make sense to first address the question we get even more often: "What is Drupal, anyway?"
Drupal is an open source modular framework and content management system (CMS) written in the programming language PHP.
So really ... it's a way to build websites. I can actually hear you thinking, "What's so special about that?"
Well, let me just tell you:
Because Drupal is open source, it allows developers from all over the planet to create modules that can be plugged in to the basic site framework quickly and with minimal custom coding. And because it's PHP-based, you can do some fantastic stuff with it.
What exactly does that mean to you, the potential Drupal-site customer?
It means that a site that used to cost $20,000, $100,000 or more and took months or years to build can now be built for a tiny fraction of the price, in a fraction of the time. (And I thought I didn't like fractions!) Here are just a few of the things we can do with Drupal:
1. Build an affordable e-commerce site using Ubercart (a group of e-commerce modules for Drupal). We can even set it up to use PayPal (which is mostly free, other than transaction fees) or your own merchant account. We can also plug in FedEx or UPS shipping calculations!
2. Build a collaborative community site featuring blogging, shared event calendar, classified ads, and more - using core Drupal modules plus a few third party modules.
3. Build a commercial website that is database-driven to track customers, calls, orders, events and more, using CiviCRM - a third party set of modules for Drupal.
4. Build a site that actually updates itself with fresh content. Using RSS (Real Simple Syndication), we can plug in content, news, blogs, whatever is appropriate to your industry. (Note: Search Engines LOVE fresh content and will crawl your site more often if it is getting updated reqularly)
5. Build a site that you can update on an ongoing basis, saving you a TON of money over the long run. Drupal sites are updated with a simple interface using any standard browser. We can teach you to update just about any of the content on your new site in an hour or less - it's that easy!
